Jack Parrish's Sawmill at Woodside Bay, Stuart Island Man on left; Stan Larson, on right; Jack Parrish. The sawmill was set up beside Parrish's machine shop. Jack Parrish moved to Stuart Island 1928. He bought some property in Woodside Bay from either the Murans or the Squires. "We would work in the sawmill on the weekend when the machine shop was closed. People would bring in their own salvaged lumber and we'd cut it up. It would be used for building boats, houses, etc." Stan Larson, 1986. (Stan Larson worked in the machine shop for Jack Parrish and was paid the grand total of $9.00 per month.)
